Palace House

Written by Luke Korem on May 19th, 2009

In 1966, the motion picture “A Man for All Seasons” was filmed here at Beaulieu and won picture of the year. The same backdrop is my work space for two weeks. We’ve been filming all day long for three days and we have barely scraped the surface of this beautiful place. Today, we filmed near Lord Montagu’s beach house where we found twenty wild horses in a variety of colors walking along the rocky beach of the Solent (the body of water that separates the UK from the Island of Wight). I’ve compiled a few of the many amazing shots Jake and I have captured the past couple days. Please enjoy this brief video of Palace House, our home here in Beaulieu. **Note: This video has NOT been edited for color, contrast, etc. It is the RAW footage….it is amazing all by itself. Also, enjoy the pictures my sharp photographer, Phillip, has taken. I will update soon…..I think Phillip and I are going to enjoy a cigar on the palace roof….hehe.

Wonderous. Capturing treasure in a far away land. Eleven years removed from the first LK docs at Berkner High . . . and its only beginning . . . Phillip you have the hallmark of an artisan . . . (Jake, sorry, but I don’t know what you shot but a tip of the hat to you too)

This is a beautiful preview!! I cannot believe this is just raw footage, too! I love your different shots through the brush…Everything looks so peaceful and grand. I can’t wait to see the final product!!

The last shot of you three is quite hilarious. Nice personal cameos ;0)

Thanks Pete-o! I appreciate the idea about the flag. We went up top to get a slow motion picture of it as the wind blew. However, when we arrived to the top of the castle we discovered that it had been taken down for that day!! You are right….the symbol on the flag is their coat of arms and it is everywhere. They are very very proud of it. We will not leave without a great shot of it!

Thanks for checking out my work! I’ll be posting more and more!! I hope you enjoy :) PS – this summer, snooker will be my on-camera reporter at this year’s MLB All Star Game in St. Louis. It will be like KRAM all over again…..but on another level. Oh….i still have the “bedroom patrol” video shown at the talent show on DVD. haha.

  11. Haha, I finally got a chance to watch. That place is gorgeous…

And…I love your little surprise appearance at the end. You would. Ha. Nicely done. (:

How are you getting such smooth pans? Fancy dolly?

  12. Luke Korem says:

No fancy dolly. I’m using what’s called a “glidetrack”. It’s a portable track that allows for a few feet of smooth gliding. It’s a poor man’s dolly :) I’m glad you noticed the sweet results!
