Have you ever watched a short film? Take a few minutes (3 minutes) and check out La Pluma. A couple friends of mine from the Austin area, Jake Hamilton (talented videographer, he’ll be traveling with me next month to film a doc in the UK) and Greg Kwedar (writer/director of the film), recently created a short film called “La Pluma” (the feather). The cinematography of this short is excellent, and the overall film is quite impressive considering they filmed this in only a few hours! Jake and Greg were working in Guatemala, filming a documentary for the organization Safe Passage, when they came up with the idea of creating a short for the online film competition, Doorpost. Doorpost is a great outlet for unique and independent filmmakers to create films that centralize around positive topics such as hope, redemption, forgiveness, etc. La Pluma focuses on the topic of Freedom. Take a few minutes and check it out. If you like what you see then sign in and vote for them! Voting ends May 1 and they need your vote to get to the top ten. My gut says they are well on their way to making it.
PS – I also strongly recommend two other films worth checking out on Doorpost:
Awake O’Sleeper – the cinematography and quality of this is sick
“Takeout” – comedy films are NOT easy to do. Jonathan Miller made it look easy because his writing of this is great.
